The California Mortgage Relief Program is funded by the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act’s Homeowner Assistance Fund. It provides up to $80,000 in assistance to eligible homeowners to help with:
- Past-due mortgage payments
- Missed property taxes
- Partial claims and loan deferrals taken during or after January 2020
- Reverse mortgage arrearages
This state program is operated by the CalHFA Homeowner Relief Corporation.

Applicants were each given 30 days to appeal decisions and unfortunately, that period has passed for all applicants. Additionally, the Program has distributed all of the one-time federal funding available for homeowner grants and will not receive any additional assistance.
